Keep Flying MVT: Mythbusters: The Egg Yolk

Eating an egg yolk as bad as smoking 5 cigarettes a day.

FALSE.

Guys, seriously?

If egg yolks were as bad for you as cigarettes, yah girl wouldn’t be here right now. A HUGE myth is that the cholesterol in egg yolks is bad for your heart. I’m here with the wonderful news that you’ve all been lied to. There have been numerous studies showing that the dietary cholesterol in egg yolks have are not linked in any way to high blood pressure and will not lead to heart disease. Since egg yolks are a great source of omega-3 fats, known to lower elevated levels of blood fat triglycerides, eating the yolk actually has the exact opposite effect on heart health than most people think.

Contrary to popular belief the yolk is the most nutritious part of the egg.  Egg yolks contain a B vitamin called Choline which plays a pretty large role in brain development. If you guys have read any of my other blogs you would know that’s all the reason I need to eat whole eggs every morning. Choline also has anti-inflammatory properties and helps keep your cell membranes healthy. Yolks contain antioxidants that help protect your vision and keep your eyes healthy.

Egg yolks are fantastic for you and are a great addition to your diet. So make that egg white omelet a normal omelet. Quit spending $6 on liquid carton egg whites and pretending they are worth the money. Treat yourself and your body to some whole eggs.

Egg Yolks are bad for you? Pshhhh, nah. MYTH BUSTED.
